Evolución y éxito profesional de futbolistas españolas según su edad relativa:

Resumen

El objetivo del presente estudio fue investigar el efecto de la edad relativa en la identificación, selección, y desarrollo de talento en fútbol femenino español. Se ha llevado a cabo un estudio observacional longitudinal durante 10 temporadas. A partir de fuentes secundarias, fueron analizadas un total de 364 jugadoras jóvenes (edad = 14,93 ± 2,86) que formaban parte de 6 clubes españoles de fútbol femenino de máximo nivel en la temporada 2015/2016. A nivel descriptivo, se observó un efecto de la edad relativa en el fútbol femenino español en la temporada 2014/2015, con una sobrerrepresentación nacidas en el primer y segundo trimestre (31,5 % y 27,5 %). De forma posterior, se evaluó el desarrollo deportivo de las jugadoras en la temporada 2024/2025. Un total de 64 jugadoras (17,6 %) del total analizado son actualmente jugadoras profesionales compitiendo en la máxima categoría del fútbol femenino mundial, y 11 de ellas, jugadoras internacionales (3,0 %). Por otro lado, se ha observado que las jugadoras de menor edad relativa tienen más posibilidades de poder ser jugadoras de mayor nivel. Además, se ha propuesta una nueva consideración al tratamiento de las jugadoras en relación a la edad relativa, ya que en múltiples situaciones las jugadoras de mayor talento en los clubes son promocionados a entrenar y competir con jugadoras de edades mayores, dichas jugadoras deben ser consideradas como de menor edad relativa que sus compañeras, aunque hayan nacido en el primer semestre, ya que entrenan y compiten con jugadoras de mayor edad cronológica.
