Video Games that Get your Body Moving

  • Sara Domínguez Independiente

Abstract

Active video games revolutionized the industry by replacing traditional buttons with body movements, dance, and virtual sports. Although they generate greater energy expenditure than conventional games -especially those involving the lower body- their intensity depends on the mechanics, hardware, and duration. They should not be considered an exercise program, as handheld or traditional consoles focus on the device's mobility, not the player's.

Keywords: Active video games, Energy expenditure, Handled consoles
