Importance of Leisure and Free Time in Athletes
Abstract
Rest and free time are important for athletes because they allow them to change their attentional focus, relax and even improve their hours of productivity. Leisure time helps develop creativity, improves the immune system, sleep quality and, consequently, lowers stress levels. There are two types of leisure: passive and active leisure. The first includes activities such as reading, watching a series, listening to music, and playing online. Active leisure requires movement, in which different activities are carried out with the body or with some part of it, such as dancing or learning a new skill.
