Changing Edges at the Right Moment to Maintain Speed in Snowboarding
Abstract
Timely edge changing in snowboarding preserves speed and ensures clean turns by preventing unnecessary skidding. Progressively releasing pressure from the previous edge and anticipating weight transfer to the new edge optimizes fluidity and grip. Biomechanical data show that elite snowboarders execute turns significantly faster than recreational riders in both directions.
