Classification, selection criteria and conceptions about the materials used in School Physical Education
Abstract
The resources and materials used in the area of Physical Education have undergone important transformations and diversifications during the last decades, generating controversies throughout history. For this reason, numerous classifications coexist, which translates into one of the endemic evils of the Physical Education subject, the so-called terminological confusion or semantic indetermination. Nevertheless, we consider necessary to have notions about the different classifications, selection criteria and conceptions about the use of materials, in order to facilitate their distinction on the part of Physical Education teachers; adapting them to the psychoevolutives characteristics of the students, as well as the those of the environment. The objective of this article is to analyze different classifications of materials, criteria for their selection, as well as existing conceptions regarding their use, in order to facilitate and improve the selection of materials and resources used by Physical Education teachers. However, the importance resides in knowing their applicability in relation to the curricular elements on which the teacher wants to work.
