How Technology Transformed Sports Consumption in Mexico

Abstract

Sports consumption in Mexico has evolved from the traditional family event on broadcast television to a personalized, fragmented, and immediate experience via smartphones. The rise of the Internet, the proliferation of digital platforms, short videos, and the simultaneous use of multiple screens have transformed the fan into an active spectator who interacts in real time, a phenomenon solidified during large-scale events such as the 2026 World Cup.
