The Colonization of the Schoolyard and the Dismantling of Social Bonds
Abstract
This essay critically analyzes the libertarian-leaning educational reform and the consequent transformation of school physical education under a market-driven and technocratic logic. It problematizes the "sportification" of the curriculum, arguing that it reduces the complexity of embodiment to competitive performance, establishing a biological meritocracy that erodes solidarity and excludes diversity. This dynamic, which emulates the model of Public Limited Sports Companies (SADs), transforms the student into a client and fragments the educational community. Furthermore, it warns of a conservative and necropolitical restoration that fosters class segregation, the rejection of scientific knowledge, and the subordination of life to financial gain. Faced with this scenario, the essay advocates for the defense of public schools as guarantors of rights and democratic refuges against the privatization of existence.
