Physical Education: Political Relevance, Social Crisis, and Chaos as Pedagogical Potential

Abstract

This paper aims to return the relevance of the role of Physical Education to the pedagogical and political discussion. In times of social crisis within the educational system and in a context of permanent technologization, social mutation is moving towards an increasingly desensitized exchange, where globalization operates as a threat to cultural identity. Faced with this, the pedagogical framework rooted in the student's potential development—with pedagogical playful activity as the object of study—returns to physical activity, recreation, and sports the zone of development upon which to work the complexity of knowledge. Teaching through movement requires bodily availability and the capacity for individual and/or collective resolution, mobilizing all forms of intervention, perception, analysis, and expression. The objective of this work is to analyze Physical Education as a pedagogical tool capable of reconfiguring crisis and chaos into opportunities for cognitive, social, and cultural development, promoting inclusion against the logics of globalization. It is argued that new and better forms of individual or collective organization emerge from chaos; from chaos arise the pre-task, the best games, and the syntheses of relationships and communication.
