These are the Players who Have Played the Most Games in the Copa America
Abstract
The Copa America is the oldest national team tournament in the world. The two players with the most games played in the event are the Chilean Sergio Livingstone and Lionel Messi (Argentina), who won the championship in 2021, with 34 games; Zizinho from Brazil, with 33 appearances, won the title in 1949. Víctor Ugarte, from Bolivia, played 30 games and was champion in 1963. Leonel Álvarez and Carlos Valderrama played 27 games each, were leaders of the Colombian team in the 80s and 90s and The Chilean Gary Medel with 27 games, was a key part of Chile's double in 2015 and 2016. Messi could become the player with the most editions played if he plays in the 2024 Copa America.
