Abstract

The present work is a critical review of the book "Practice of Teaching in Physical Education: the child in movement" of Professor Jorge Sergio Perez Gallardo. The work is divided into six chapters that address the teaching of Physical Education. In chapter one the author makes an introduction to Physical Education in general. In chapter two, cultural themes and their interrelation with Physical Education are shown. Chapter three aims to point out possible new experiments in the practice of Physical Education. In relation of chapter four, the author shows the importance of the Physical Education teacher as a bridge between knowledge and the student, enabling the transformative learning. Another approach of this chapter turns to the importance of the initial formation of the Teacher of Physical Education. In chapters five and six, respectively, Gallardo is dedicated to explaining the legality of Physical School Education and the evaluation forms pertinent to the teaching-learning process. Although published in 2009, "Practice of Teaching in Physical Education: the child in movement" always deserves to be revisited as a manual, since it has important meanings to Physical Education, especially those who are entering the teaching profession with little experience.
