Abstract

In school, as in society, violence is ingrained, becoming the first a mirror of the second. Among the various types of violence there is a peculiar, often overlooked, named bullying, in which physical, intellectual or financial superiority is used to overlap another person or group. The objective of this work was to characterize bullying in Physical Education classes based on the perception of public school teachers. For this, a quantitative study was carried out, with the application of a questionnaire to 33 teachers from municipal public schools in the city of Fortaleza - CE. The results revealed that there are bullying practices in Physical Education classes at a considerable frequency; that the reasons for the aggressions are linked to requirements of proximity of the physical appearance to esthetic standards and the low motor performance; that victims of bullying react by remaining in class with fear and / or sadness, or move away from activities; and that the reaction of the teachers has been directed to the private conversations with the involved ones or realization of collective pedagogic activities aiming to clarify on the subject. It is concluded that this phenomenon needs to be investigated in the specific contexts in which they are developed so that, through enlightened and committed professionals, it is possible to contribute to the development of positive attitudes among the people, in order to ensure that the discipline of Physical Education fulfills pedagogical function satisfactorily.
