Evaluation of the Oral Health of Professional Soccer Players. DMFT Index and Plaque Index
Abstract
The provision of excellent dental care for high-level football players is a challenging task in view of the countless competitions that do not allow adequate planning in medical decisions. The article has as general objective to evaluate the oral health of professional soccer athletes through the DMF-T Index and Plaque Index, being delimited 3 (three) clubs in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes that are affiliated to the Rio de Janeiro Soccer Federation (FERJ). The research was carried out through a clinical evaluation with professional soccer athletes. It was concluded in this work that the oral health of the athletes is inefficient due to the data obtained in the research, presenting an average DMF-T of 4.77 (moderate) and a plaque index of an average of 28.92 (unsatisfactory).
