Preliminary diagnosis to design physical-recreational activities to promote health in ESPOCH students

Abstract

A diagnosis allows analyzing a situation or phenomenon investigated, knowing its trends in the short, medium or long term; Therefore, it allows to justify the effective decisions taking to correct the problems detected and to enhance the advantages that may exist. In this regard, the research purpose is to make a preliminary diagnosis to design physical-recreational activities aimed at promoting health in students of Escuela Politecnica Superior de Chimborazo (ESPOCH). The research is exploratory and descriptive, studying 312 university students (10-24 years) and 8 managers, through the application of a survey with 7 questions. The research showed a low level of physical activity in all variables studied, both in intensity and amount of time spent. When results analyzing, it was concluded that a specialized program of physical activity was designed in the short term, emphasizing aspects related to health promotion and improvement of life quality in university students and directors of the studied institution.
