Why is the Short Roll Pass after a Screen so Dangerous in Basketball?
Abstract
The short roll occurs when the screener receives the ball after releasing the ball handler without continuing to the basket. Against aggressive defenses, this action creates a 4-on-3 tactical advantage that disrupts the defense and forces a single defender to choose between stopping the ball or covering the attackers on the perimeter, in the corner, or at the basket.
