Coaches and Physical Education Teachers in Mexico: Vacation, Bonuses, and the Gap between Seasons

  • Alessia Quispe Independiente

Abstract

Under Mexico's Federal Labor Law, a teacher working for multiple institutions maintains independent employment relationships with each employer, accruing seniority and base salary separately. Vacation time and the vacation bonus (a minimum of 25 %) are calculated individually. Due to the academic cycle's hiatus, payments received at the end of the term must be managed as a reserve fund to cover the lack of income during the break.
