Analyzing the Psychology of Penalty Kicks in the World Cup
Abstract
The penalty kick is the purest psychological test in soccer, where emotional strength trumps physical ability. Factors such as state anxiety, pre-match routines, and the goalkeeper's mental game determine success. Waiting more than two seconds after the whistle, maintaining a winning mentality, focusing the gaze on the target, and projecting expansive body language optimize performance, demonstrating that mental preparation defines legacies in the World Cup.
