Evolution of Tactical Systems in the FIFA World Cup
Abstract
Tactical evolution in the FIFA World Cup functions as a dynamic and adaptive system. Over nearly a century, the tournament has transitioned from the ultra-attacking era (W-M) and the birth of the back four, to Total Soccer and midfield pragmatism. More recently, the dominance of tiki-taka has given way to fluid, hybrid transitions. Driven by rule changes and physical conditioning, these systems dictate international success and redefine the game.
