Gamification and Mental Health: Can Digital Games Be an Ally Against Stress?

Abstract

Gamification has transformed video games into tools for mental well-being. Through reward systems and the release of dopamine, digital environments facilitate flow states, autonomy, and incremental progress, reducing stress. From therapeutic applications to immersive simulations, game design offers a low-risk refuge for developing resilience and emotional clarity in a hyperconnected world.
