Hybrid Sport: When Esports Jump into the Physical Space
Abstract
The evolution of video games has given rise to hybrid sport, a trend that merges esports with traditional physical activity. This modality, a successor to exergames, combines cognitive and digital effort with athletic performance in phygital (physical-digital) formats. Events like Phygital Rivals demonstrate that the success of this model lies in digitalization, gamification, and the ability to attract young people through innovative experiences that break the monotony of conventional training.
