Sports Training in Brazilian and Australian Soccer: Cultural Differences in Long-Term Development

Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss the cultural differences in the development of soccer in Brazil and Australia regarding models of sports training. Methods: Searches were conducted in national and international literature by the authors. This is a narrative review presenting the Brazilian and Australian models. The results showed that the main differences between the models are: The Brazilian model stands out for its tradition, creativity, and talent development through a strong popular culture and a holistic approach - although challenged by regional inequalities and lack of formalism, which in recent years the CBF Academy has been strengthening with an academic-scientific perspective through its various coach training courses. The Australian model, in a growth process, has been building a more organized and institutionalized structure, focusing on sustainable youth development, but still faces challenges related to transfers and broader cultural engagement. The country, in partnership with the CBF Academy, has also been seeking academic and scientific improvement with coach training courses. It is concluded that both models are strongly influenced by their cultures and are seeking to bring sports sciences applied to sports training in soccer.
