Mindful Leisure: How to Choose Activities that Truly Reduce Mental Fatigue

  • Diana Gujer Independiente

Abstract

Mindful leisure goes beyond simply disconnecting from work by prioritizing activities that provide mental rest and balanced stimulation. Unlike passive entertainment or intensive digital consumption, which often generate cognitive fatigue and stress, this approach seeks active participation in restorative experiences. Integrating creative activities, contact with nature, or meaningful social interaction reduces cortisol and improves creativity. The key lies in intentionality: adapting leisure to transform free time into a strategic tool for mental health and sustainable well-being.
