The Impact of Digital Minimalism on Modern Sport

  • Emilio Arrung Independiente

Abstract

Technology has transformed sport, from performance monitoring to training optimization. However, digital minimalism emerged as a response to information overload. This approach promotes the conscious and strategic use of technology, helping athletes focus on the essentials and maximize their potential. It is crucial for athletes' mental health, as it reduces social media noise and media pressure, allowing for a healthier balance. Coaches benefit by focusing on athlete development rather than excessive data, balancing technology and intuition. By better managing online time, professional athletes can let their performance speak for itself, creating authentic connections with their fans. In conclusion, digital minimalism offers a new perspective: a balanced approach where technology complements, rather than complicates, the sporting process, improving performance and well-being.
