Sport as a Tool for Socio-Cultural Integration in Global Contexts: Challenges, Tensions and Opportunities
Abstract
The article examines the role of sport as a tool for integration in a globalised world marked by cultural diversity, migration and social tensions. It highlights both its potential and its contradictions: while sport can promote intercultural coexistence, active citizenship and psychosocial well-being - especially in the school environment - it can also contribute to the reproduction of inequalities when used for commercial or political purposes. From a critical and educational approach, the authors propose principles and strategies to develop an inclusive, participatory and transformative sport practice. These measures include teacher training, the cultural adaptation of content and the defense of children's rights in sport. Finally, the article advocates for a pedagogical model of sport that promotes democratic values, equity and the Sustainable Development Goals.
