Multidisciplinary Strategy to Improve Quality of Life in Patients with Endometriosis
Abstract
The present investigation evaluated the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary strategy based on Therapeutic Physical Culture, functional training and exercise periodization to improve the quality of life in women with endometriosis. A 36-week structured program was designed and divided into three phases: initial adaptation, functional development and consolidation. The sample comprised 10 women between 40 and 55 years of age living in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Using longitudinal quantitative methodology, structured surveys were applied to measure resilience, satisfaction and perception of self-improvement, complemented with functional tests (FMS, McGill, Wall Sit, 6-minute walk) and anthropometric evaluations. The data were statistically processed to identify significant changes pre and post intervention. The results showed notable improvements in localized muscular endurance, postural control, aerobic capacity and psychosocial well-being. Participants increased their general functional level, moving from poor performance to more efficient and safe patterns. Positive evolution was recorded in subjective variables such as self-efficacy and perception of personal recovery. This experience underscores the importance of incorporating adapted physical approaches into the comprehensive management of endometriosis. By integrating biomechanical, neuroadaptive and psychosocial principles, it is possible to promote autonomy, reduce painful symptoms and strengthen the capacity for health self-management. The main objective of the present research was to evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary strategy based on Therapeutic Physical Culture (TPC), functional training and exercise periodization in improving quality of life, pain reduction and functional recovery in an adult patient with clinical-surgical diagnosis of endometriosis.
