The present study aimed to present and discuss the term flexibility of elderly people. Data were collected in the SCIELO and LILACS databases, being selected publications were selected between 2005 and 2015. Research shows that several physical activities improve the health and functionality of the elderly. Among these activities, weight training has been shown to be the most effective in improving and maintaining flexibility in functional autonomy.
