The Cases of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay (1930-1980). Book Review
Abstract
This book, published by the National University of La Plata and coordinated by Alejo Levoratti and Pablo Scharagrodsky, explores the evolution of Physical Education (PE) in South America between 1930 and 1980. It highlights the influence of transoceanic voyages and the mutual exchange between South American and European teachers. It analyzes key figures such as Enrique Carlos Romero Brest, Alberto Langlade, Inezil Penna Marinho, and Luis Bisquertt Susarte, and European gymnastic movements, revealing how they shaped PE in the region. The book also examines these actors' relationship with political power and how their ideas impacted teacher training and public policy.
