Efectos de la práctica del MuayThai en las capacidades físicas y aspectos comportamentales de mujeres
Resumen
Introducción: El MuayThai es un deporte de combate que involucra movimientos corporales, técnicas de concentración y filosofías propias, aún poco practicado por mujeres. Objetivo: Verificar los efectos de la práctica del MuayThai sobre las capacidades físicas y aspectos comportamentales en mujeres. Métodos: Estudio cuasi-experimental, caracterizado por una intervención con MuayThai en un grupo de mujeres adultas sanas. Se evaluó la resistencia muscular abdominal (máximas repeticiones en un minuto), la flexibilidad de la cadena muscular posterior (test de sentarse y alcanzar), la imagen corporal (Body Image Scale) y los comportamientos y factores de riesgo asociados a la aparición del dolor (cuestionario BackPEI-A). Se realizó análisis estadístico descriptivo e inferencial (prueba t y prueba de chi-cuadrado para muestras pareadas, prueba de McNemar, p<0,05). Resultados: La muestra estuvo compuesta por nueve mujeres (edad=21,6±1,67 años; masa corporal=66,4±15,1 kg; altura=1,64±0,06 m). Hubo una diferencia significativa en la resistencia muscular abdominal relacionada con los valores escalares (t(8)=-3,615, p=0,007, d de Cohen=0,042) y los valores clasificatorios (χ2(9)=17,100, p=0,047; V de Cramer=0,796). No hubo diferencia significativa para la flexibilidad de la cadena muscular posterior ((t(8)=1,523, p=0,166, d de Cohen=-0,39); (χ2(9)=6,750, p=0,345; V de Cramer=0,612)). En cuanto a los factores de riesgo que predisponen a la aparición del dolor, se observó un empeoramiento (t(8)=1,414, p=0,195, d de Cohen=-0,48). Conclusión: La práctica de MuayThai, realizada dos veces por semana durante aproximadamente dos meses, mejoró significativamente la resistencia muscular abdominal. Sin embargo, no mejoró significativamente otras variables relacionadas con la capacidad física y los aspectos conductuales.
