Abstract

Born on medieval French courts, tennis evolved from "jeu de paume" to the global sport we know today. In the 19th century, in England, Major Wingfield formalized the rules and gave rise to modern tennis. With legendary tournaments like Grand Slams and legends like Serena Williams, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, tennis has become one of the most popular and profitable sports in the world. The passion for sport transcends social classes and countries.
