Rest-Pause Method and its Effects on Muscle Hypertrophy

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the rest-pause method in inducing muscular hypertrophy through a review of the current scientific evidence. Three research repositories (PubMed, Taylor & Francis Online, and SciELO) were used to identify relevant articles. Six studies that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. The results suggest that the rest-pause method is effective for muscular hypertrophy only if it induces a higher training volume compared to traditional methods. However, more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms by which rest-pause promotes muscle growth and to determine whether this effect is due to a specific physiological response to the method or simply to the increase in total training volume.
