Documentary Study of Articles Published by the National Electronic Journal of Physical Education
Abstract
The National Electronic Journal of Physical Education (RENEF) is a publication of the Physical Education course at the prestigious Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros (UNIMONTES). It was created in 2009, but only implemented in 2011. It is published every six months and its mission is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of human movement, involving areas such as Physical Education, sports, physical and mental well-being, and other related areas. The objective of this study was to verify the theme and content of the articles published by RENEF, from its creation to the present day (2011 to 2023). The research is characterized by a documentary research with a mixed approach, where data analysis was carried out through the content analysis proposed by Bardin. According to the data collection, it was observed that, of the 94 articles published in the RENEF journal, 418 keywords were identified, which were later coded and classified into six categories and/or subareas of Physical Education, resulting in the majority (58.13%) of the keywords being related to the subareas: Pedagogical and Sociocultural, totaling 124 words (29.7%), with this in first place and, in second place, the subareas Physical Activity and Health, with 119 keywords (28.5%). Thus, it was evident that the content of the RENEF articles has themes related to the subareas “Pedagogical and Sociocultural” and “Physical Activity and Health” of Physical Education and that a considerable percentage of authors do not make a good choice regarding keywords during the production of their article(s).
