Panorama of Cheerleading in Brazil
Abstract
The study uses a descriptive methodological approach to describe and analyze the development process of Cheerleading and its current situation in Brazil. It is based on national championships documents, emphasizing Cheerfest, the country's largest competition in the category, and on specialized sources like Portal Cheer. The results showed significant growth in the participation of teams from different states, surpassing the concentration in the Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo-Paraná axis. A central aspect identified was the predominance of university teams in the category. In conclusion, it is recognized that the category is in full development and lacks more professional management and organization. Nevertheless, the promising potential of Cheerleading in Brazil is evident, also highlighted by its recent approach to the International Olympic Committee.
