The hydrocinesiotherapy in the treatment of fibromyalgia
Abstract
Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by generalized musculoskeletal pain, in order to attenuate its proposed symptoms of complementary therapies, and hydrokinesiotherapy is an effective intervention solution. Thus, the objective of this study was to demonstrate the effects of a treatment with hydrokinesiotherapy on the perception of pain, its effects on tender points (pain points) in women diagnosed with FM. It is an experimental study with pre and post-test without control group, composed of 08 subjects with FM between 40 and 55 years old, living in the city of Santa Maria / RS. The Subjective Feeling Scale PSE - Borg Scale and the Myalgic Index were used to collect the data. The treatment consisted of 21 sessions of hydrokinesiotherapy in heated pool divided into 3 stages: Initial stage comprised easy intensity, stage 02 with relatively easy intensity and stage 03 with slightly tiring intensity. To analyze the normality of the data, the Kolmogoroff and parametric tests were used, in the comparison of the sensitive points at the beginning and at the end of the treatment the Student's t test was applied. The results showed a significant decrease of 36% in pain intensity (p = 0.043), with a significant reduction in the number of tender points presented at the beginning and at the end of treatment. The present study suggests that hydrokinesitherapy is efficient in the treatment of FM and presents itself as a reliable proposal for FM patients.
