Sports mega events and philosophy: analysis of evictions in the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games
Abstract
With sports mega events nowadays having a great importance in the international political scene, the present research aims to analyze the social impacts that the constructions for a mega event have, focusing on the issue of forced evictions of citizens by the Brazilian government in the 2014 World Cup and the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It seeks to understand the reasons why the government often hurts the right of adequate housing of people of their own country with the aim of political visibility on the international scene, making an analogy with the absence of morality that the prince should have in Machiavelli's thought.
