Observations of motor patterns: walking, running and jumping in an 8 year old boy
Abstract
Every human goes through a series of changes in their motor behavior from birth, forming, in the first ages, the basis of their subsequent motor competence. So the motor baggage will depend on a process of acquisition and systematic and planned motor practice. In Physical Education, the observation of motor patterns will influence the choice of some tasks or others, determining the learning of the students and the contents to work. Therefore, it is intended to verify if the tests used are valid to analyze the level of development of walking, running and jump patterns. A subject of 8 years (1.37 m and 40 kg) was chosen, observing the motor patterns described above by means of a 10-meter walk, a 10-meter sprint, horizontal and vertical jump test. Indicators very similar to those established as normal in the walking were observed; in the running, little forward inclination with cervical antepulsion, elbows detached from the body and full support of the foot; and in the jump, in the impulse the angle of the knee is of 110º with a total support of the sole of the foot and for the reception there is no movement of cushioning and it does it with the whole sole of the foot. Concluding that the level of maturity appreciated in all the exercises is consistent with the indicators of normality and the possibility of standardizing the tests used for the assessment of motor skills.
