Physical Education in Russia revolutionary (1917 to 1924): School-Commune of Narkompros
Abstract
This bibliographical study has as main objective to understand how the educational institution was constituted, the educational process and physical education in the initial period of formation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics - USSR (1917 to 1924). From the perspective of historical materialism, we sought to understand these issues in the contribution of Moisey Mikhaylovich Pistrak, one of the leading educational leaders of the Soviet school, and in understanding the workings of the Narkompros School-Commune, where Pistrak acted. In a process of reorganization of the institutions in Russia, the Soviet government made changes in the education system so that the new Soviet schools contributed to the construction of the socialist project. The Narkompros Commune School worked under an ever increasing misery, but even under these conditions, it managed to carry out various expressive activities that contributed to the revolutionary formation of many children, youth, workers and peasants. Among the most important reflections we have reached in this study is the understanding of the need to clarify the limits and possibilities of the contribution of an institution such as the School-Commune for the construction of a socialist revolution. We note that an institution like this can play an essential role in a revolutionary process, but we note that the determinants of building a revolution are not limited to the school environment.
