Comportamiento sedentario de estudiantes universitarios en la pandemia de COVID-19: una revisión integradora

Resumen

Introducción: Con las medidas de emergencia para tratar de contener la propagación del nuevo coronavirus, los comportamientos y hábitos de la población se vieron impactados y modificados. Como resultado, aumentó el comportamiento sedentario y el tiempo frente a la pantalla, además de la reducción de las actividades al aire libre. El objetivo de la presente revisión es analizar los estudios científicos relacionados con el comportamiento sedentario de los estudiantes universitarios durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Metodología: Se trata de una revisión integradora de publicaciones en los años 2020 y 2021. La búsqueda se realizó en las colecciones Web of Science, Scielo, PubMed y Virtual Health Library (BVS - MEDLINE), utilizando los descriptores “Comportamiento sedentario”, “COVID-19 ”, “Actividad física” y “Estudiantes”, con el operador booleano AND. Resultados: Se seleccionaron 21 artículos. Fue posible notar que los estudiantes redujeron el volumen total de actividad física (AF) y pasaron a tener un aumento en el tiempo sentado. Estos comportamientos contribuyeron a una vida más sedentaria, asociándose con más tiempo de pantalla para actividades de ocio y estudios. El aislamiento social fue una de las razones de esto, ya que los estudiantes pasaban menos tiempo visitando lugares y más tiempo en casa. Conclusión: Se puede observar que los estudiantes vieron afectado su estilo de vida, con más tiempo de pantalla y comportamiento sedentario provocando un aumento de los síntomas de estrés, ansiedad y depresión, conducta alimentaria inadecuada y bajo nivel de AF.
