Resumen
El G.I.C. nació durante el año 1991, en el I.N.E.F. Nº 1 "Dr. Enrique Romero
Brest" de Buenos Aires.
Un grupo de alumnos de dicho instituto, que había realizado viajes a
escuelas de frontera, tuvo una iniciativa renovadora: llevar la Educación
Física a esos lugares donde no se la conocía.
Así fue como, en 1991, un grupo de 6 estudiantes viajó al Impenetrable
Chaqueño, hacia una aldea de una comunidad aborigen (de la etnia Wichi).
En esa experiencia, empezamos a tomar conciencia de los logros que se
podrían obtener al llevar una forma tan particular de educación a un pueblo
de una cultura tan diferente.
Hoy, el grupo está conformado por alumnos y ex-alumnos del I.E.F. "Federico
W. Dickens" y del I.E.F. "Dr. Enrique Romero Brest" buscando así la
integración entre Institutos de Educación Física.
Además trabaja conjuntamente con el Ministerio de Salud y Acción Social de
la Nación, en un programa de salud aborigen.
En la actualidad el G.I.C mantiene un ritmo de visitas periódicas a cinco
escuelas, en las cuales no se conocía la Educación Física.
El grupo tiene por objetivo llevar los fundamentos de la educación, proveer
los materiales imprescindibles y capacitar a los docentes de las Escuelas,
buscando promover la autogestión.
Se busca jerarquizar la Educación Física, creando también nuevas fuentes de
trabajo, junto con la tarea de integrar a los niños, a veces en lugares sin
ningún tipo de comunicación. Los chicos conocen así, otros deportes y
juegos, en su ambiente habitual.

Abstract
The Cultural Exchange Group (C.E.G.) was formed in 1991 at the National
Institute of Physical Education (I.N.E.F.) Nro. 1 "Dr. Enrique Romero
Brest" of Buenos Aires.
The innovative initiative to take physical education to places where it was
unknown came from a group of students at this school who had made several
trips to provincial schools.
In 1991, six students traveled to an indigenous village (of Wichi ethnicity)
in the impenetrable Chaco region.
During this experience, it became apparent how much could be gained by
introducing this special form of education to people from such a different
cultural background.
Today, the group is comprised of both current and former students of two
Institutes of Physical Education: "Federico W. Dickens" and "Dr. Enrique
Romero Brest".
The group also works in conjunction with the Nation's Ministry of Health and
Social Action program on indigenous health.
Currently, the C.E.G. maintains a schedule of periodic visits to five
schools which were formerly unfamiliar with physical education. The group's
objective is to disseminate the fundamentals of physical education, provide
necessary materials and train teachers in the schools, thereby promoting
self-administration of the program.
The group seeks to establish hierarchy in physical education, to integrate
children within the discipline, and to create new jobs in isolated areas.
This will bring knowledge of other sports and games to children in their own
environments.
