Resumen
Como es sabido, todo deporte plantea a los deportistas el problema del necesario y unánime sometimiento a las reglas del juego. Sin embargo, existen también otro tipo de normas. Me refiero a las que establecen las condiciones que hacen posible la competencia como las que apuntan a la organización de torneos. En este sentido, la difusión de la práctica del fútbol contó -en buena medida- con la tarea de las llamadas "ligas independientes" que diseñaban sus propios campeonatos. Quienes actuaron en aquellas ligas ocuparon muchas de sus energías en establecer las normas necesarias para que las reglas del juego propiamente dicho pudieran plasmarse de la forma más equitativa posible. Además, la acción participativa y democrática apuntó a la búsqueda de la creación de las mejores condiciones posibles para la administración de la justicia en la competencia deportiva.

THE RULES OF THE GAME AND ORGANIZATION OF COMPETITIVE
SPORTS IN BUENOS AIRES BETWEEN 1900 AND 1915.

Abstract
All athletes who practice any sport are confronted with the necessity of unanimous compliance with the "rules of the game". There are, however, other types of norms in sports; namely, those norms which define and establish the conditions under which competition is to take place (such as those used in the organization of tournaments). The spread of the game of soccer between 1900 and 1915 was based largely on the work of the "independent leagues", which designed their own championships. The people involved in the independent leagues focussed their energies on establishing norms and shaping the rules of the game in the fairest manner possible. Furthermore, the participative and democratic nature of the game directed efforts toward the creation of the most favorable conditions possible for the administration of justice during competition.
